Pickled Beets

Pickled Beets - just like Mom used to make! Margie also planted the cylindrical beets - easy to slice and put in the jars.  This is her recipe. Thanks Mom!

Pickled Beets

1. Wash beets and place in a large pot. Cover with water and cook until tender.

2. Cool until able to handle and peel - the skins slip right off!

3. Cut into pieces and place in hot sterilized jars.

4. Cover with hot brine.

5. Seal jars with hot sterilized lids.

Brine:

Bring to boil:

8 cups sugar

8 cups vinegar

2 cups water

In spice bag: 2 tbsp. each whole cloves, pickling spice and cinnamon
